April 2024 Luncheon

Tony Russell
Tony Russell is an advocate for Veterans and people with disabilities. His deep understanding of mental challenges began at a young age when he was adopted after a tragic accident. As an Air Force Wounded Warrior, Tony served 9 years as a Civil Engineer with multiple deployments and humanitarian missions before being medically retired after suffering a career ending injury that put him in a coma.
Tony was forced to relearn the foundational basics of living, and one of the things that helped him along his recovery journey was his service dog. Having experienced first-hand the extensive impact a service dog can make, but also being aware of the high cost and limited number of dogs available to the people who need them, Tony knew this was something he wanted to pursue. With the support of his wife Eleanor, they co-founded South Dakota Service Dogs (SDSD) in 2021. The Mission of SDSD is to provide Service dogs to Veterans and First Responders who deal with PTSD, physical disabilities, health conditions, and other challenges at no cost.
Through his inspiring story, Tony now shares his story and passion as a motivational speaker. Through his story, he motivates and empowers others to seek a resilient mind set and achieve greater success no matter their challenges.

March 2024 Luncheon

429668099_3338527366446029_3395290779388290279_n

Join us for lunch on March 20th! We are excited to hear from Miranda O’Bryan, 2023 Miss South Dakota.

From journalism to winning Miss South Dakota 2023, Miranda O’Bryan leveraged natural leadership competencies, while learning from others along the way. She continues her leadership growth, while also encouraging our next generation to see the leaders in themselves.

A South Dakota girl through and through, Miranda, grew up in Martin, South Dakota, and graduated from South Dakota State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and history. She moved back to West River when joining the KOTA and KEVN Black Hills news teams as a multimedia journalist. Through hard work and dedication, as well as patience and flexibility, Miranda worked her way up to a prime-time evening anchor for The Six and Black Hills FOX News at 9.

During Miranda’s time at South Dakota State University, a good friend competed for and won the title of Miss South Dakota, giving Miranda her first real taste of the Miss America competition. She didn’t grow up watching the competition on television, but the moment she set foot on the local stage, a fire was lit inside Miranda. For six years, she gave everything to serve her state in this way, earning the title of Miss South Dakota in 2023, and competing in the 2024 Miss America competition.

Her community service platform throughout has been, “Page Turners: Fall in Love with Reading,” with young readers in mind. She is so committed to this goal that she wrote her own career-oriented children’s book, “ Jericho the Journalism Kitty .” Reading puts dreams in minds and in reach, leading to future leaders.
Tickets for this luncheon will be on sale until Monday, March 18 at 12pm.
